Neck Pain Treatment in Yarraville
Are you suffering from neck pain that either won't go away or keeps coming back?
Did you wake up one morning to an incredibly stiff and sore neck?
Or do you spend hours each day sitting a desk hunched over?
Maybe you simply turned your head and felt something 'go'
You possibly even experience neck related headaches from time to time.
All these scenarios present as neck pain - however the cause and structures involved can be different.
Muscle Related
Often feels tight, aching, or burning. It may be worse with stress, poor posture, or after long hours at a desk. Tender to touch and usually improves with movement, stretching, and soft-tissue work.

Joint Related
Commonly feels sharp or stiff, especially with turning your head or first thing in the morning. You may notice restricted movement or a “catch” when rotating or looking up.

Disc Related
May cause deep neck pain with pain, tingling, or numbness that can travel into the shoulder, arm, or hand. Often aggravated by sustained positions and may be associated with weakness or pins and needles.

Common Structures That Cause Neck Pain
Treatment is heavily influenced depending on which structures are likely responsible for your pain. Whilst muscles respond well to firmer and more direct treatment, the same treatment could be extremely aggravating to an inflamed joint.

About Your Osteopath
I’m Peter, a Registered Osteopath practising at Cornerstone Osteopathy in Yarraville. I hold a Bachelor of Science (Osteopathy) and a Master of Health Science (Osteopathy) from Victoria University.
Before becoming an osteopath, I worked as a remedial massage therapist in private practice and with professional sporting organisations, including the Western Bulldogs and Melbourne Storm. This background, along with advanced training in dry needling, informs my hands-on and movement-focused approach to care.
My focus is on the assessment and management of neck, back, and hip pain, with an emphasis on clear explanations, respectful treatment, and helping people return confidently to everyday movement.
