What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands-on allied health profession that focuses on diagnosing, treating and managing conditions affecting the muscles, joints and nervous system.

At Peter Petroff Osteopathy, treatment is tailored to your individual needs and may include:
-
Joint mobilisation and manipulation
-
Soft tissue massage
-
Muscle stretching
-
Dry needling
-
Exercise rehabilitation
-
Education and advice to support long-term recovery

Every treatment begins with a thorough assessment to identify the factors contributing to your symptoms. My goal is not only to relieve pain but also to improve movement and help you return to the activities you enjoy.
The History of Osteopathy
Osteopathy was founded in 1874 by American physician Dr Andrew Taylor Still. Frustrated by the limited medical treatments available at the time, he developed an approach that emphasised the relationship between the body's structure and function, believing that restoring healthy movement could support the body's ability to heal and function effectively.

Since then, osteopathy has evolved considerably. Modern osteopaths combine traditional hands-on techniques with contemporary medical knowledge and evidence-informed practice. Today's treatment may include manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, education and lifestyle advice to help manage musculoskeletal pain and improve movement.
